Titled Zoom (for "Zappos Rooms"), this project was the result of a recent hack-a-thon (where developers and designers get 2 days to form teams and create something of their choosing). Noticing that nobody seemed to have any idea where any of the conference rooms were, I asked a designer to create some awesome-looking maps and used RaphaelJS and SVG technology to make them dynamic. The rooms are categorized by building and floor, and by hovering over the name of the room or the room itself, you can see where it is located on the map. Clicking on the room also gives you a detailed overview of the room, which includes a photo, capacity, phone extension, etc.
Once the entire company is migrated to Exchange 2010 (in Winter, 2010), Zoom will allow users to view the schedule of a particular room, reserve the room, and search for open rooms based on criteria of their choosing.
Oh yeah, and we won the hack-a-thon. :)
