A friend finally released their mobile slot machine game last week, so I can finally share the artwork behind one of the themes I created for it. This one is probably my favorite themes because I’m such a fan of sweets and desserts. ^__^

I’m not great at drawing by any means, but I’ve found working with Adobe Illustrator to be a lot easier than drawing by hand because I can be so precise. Since I had almost no experience with illustration, I went through a bunch of Illustrator tutorials before beginning. I also bought and worked through a good portion of Manga For The Beginner: Kawaii. I choose to use the kawaii style because the style is made up of simple shapes, flat colors, and light shading. Plus, it’s just so adorable – what’s not to love about it?

Project Kokeshi: Doll #1

posted in Design

I’ve been learning a lot about drawing and illustration lately in preparation for a new mobile game I’m working on. I’m a huge fan of the kawaii style of drawing, so I decided to create a series of kokeshi dolls using this style to help improve my creativity and to improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator.

So here is the first in the series… introducing, Birthday Cake Kokeshi.
